 Joe Brennan has nearly 23 years of experience with embedded developments encompassing tools and embedded solutions. He joined Hitachi (now Renesas) in 1989 as a hardware design engineer design in circuit emulators and now runs a team of engineers in Europe focussed on tools and embedded solutions creation. Before joining Renesas, he worked for Racal designing Radar equipment. He holds a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Before joining Renesas, where he now serves as a senior product marketing manager, Mr. Johnson spent 13 years developing software and overseeing microcontroller development for Hitachi Semiconductor in Europe. Mitch Ferguson -- Application Engineering Manager, Renesas Technology America
 Mitch Ferguson oversees system hardware design, including low-noise and low-power systems using MCUs. He has more than 15 years of system-level design experience utilizing MCUs, and more than six years as an applications engineer. As a hardware engineer and engineering manager, Mr. Ferguson has helped design power distribution controls, automotive and fire alarm systems with a focus on EMI/EMS issues, low-power systems and analog interfaces. Mr. Ferguson has a BSEE from Cleveland State University.

 Jon Brabender is Sr. Staff Applications Engineer currently responsible for the Renesas Direct Drive LCD solution, and support of customer compiler issues. Previous contributions include creation of the FoUSB in circuit debugger, Virtual EEPROM API and the Sub Atomic Particle hardware platform. He’s been an application engineer with Mitsubishi/Renesas for over 7 years and has more than 20 years experience in the hardware and firmware design of embedded systems in the industrial (servo drives, motor control, factory automation, CAN based networks) and commercial (car wash controls) arenas. Mr. Brabender holds a BSEE from Michigan Technological University.
Arwyn Hughes -- Sr. Design Engineer, Renesas Europe Engineering Division
 Arwyn Hughes has more than 7 years of experience working on Renesas's embedded development tool High-performance Embedded Workshop (HEW). He is involved in all aspects of the software development cycle. Mr. Hughes has worked on almost every part of the application, and specializes in GUI design and usability. He is now working on the next-generation version of the tool. He has a degree in Computer Science from the University of Wales, Cardiff.
Ian Hall -- Senior Applications Specialist, Renesas Technology Europe Ltd
 Ian Hall has over 15 years of experience in the embedded electronics industry. Working for Renesas Technology Europe Ltd in the UK he supports the SH controller families of microcontrollers as a Systems Applications Specialist. Prior to his role at Renesas, Ian supported high-end microcontrollers in FAE roles at both Hitachi Europe Ltd., and their distributor Arrow Electronics. Currently Ian is presenting a series of RTOS workshops in over 8 countries across Europe.
Jean Labrosse -- President, Micrium
 Jean Labrosse is president of Micrium, a provider of high quality embedded middleware (RTOS, TCP/IP stack, File System, GUI, USB stacks and more). Mr. Labrosse is the author of the world's most popular embedded system book, MicroC/OS-II, The Real-Time Kernel as well as Embedded Systems Building Blocks. He has published more than 25 articles in various magazines and is a regular lecturer at the Embedded Systems Conference.
John A. Carbone -- VP. Of Marketing, Express Logic
 John A. Carbone, vice president of marketing for Express Logic, has 35 years experience in real-time computer systems and software, ranging from embedded system developer and FAE to vice president of sales and marketing. Mr. Carbone’s experience includes embedded computers, array processors, attached processors, development tools, and both commercial and proprietary real-time operating systems. Mr. Carbone has a BA degree in mathematics from Boston College.
Nadim Shehayed -- US Area Manager, IAR Systems
Nadim Shehayed, US Area Manager of IAR Systems, has 20 years experience with development tools for Embedded Microcontrollers, ranging from 8/16 bit to high performance 32-bit. He has Held positions ranging from Technical Manager to Sales/Marketing to overall operations manager at IAR Systems. Designing Wireless Systems (D04)
Chris Brandt -- Application Engineer, Renesas Technology America
 An active member of the ZigBee Alliance, Chris Brandt has spent much of the last three years helping define the ZigBee specification. Moreover, he's had a hand in developing Renesas' 802.15.4 software solutions as well as other wireless protocols and low-power methods. A 10-year Renesas veteran, Mr. Brandt has seen the market for flash-based MCUs continue to grow since the release of the company's first M16C with embedded flash.
Steve Montgomery -- President, RFT Troubleshooter
Steve has been developing embedded wireless technologies since 1996. He is the founder of Radiotronix, a leading supplier of RF modules to the embedded wireless market. In 2006, Steve started RF Troubleshooter, a design services company specializing in embedded wireless product development services. He is the inventor and principal developer of the OpenRF™ embedded wireless development platform. Steve has written numerous papers and given many lectures on topics related to embedded wireless product development.
Shimon Gersten -- Chief Technology Officer, Talon Communications, Inc.
 Mr. Gersten brings to Talon over 25 years of computer engineering technology, developing products for the consumer, business and military markets. Mr. Gersten continues to be a major contributor to the development of embedded devices focusing on short-range low power/cost wireless. He brings to Talon 14 years of rich and varied product development experience gained as a consultant providing Embedded Software development services. His activities include product realization phases from requirements, specifications, architecture, code, test, integration, field support and management to pre and post project engagement. With specialties in ZigBee, 802.11, PAN, set-top, storage and data communication. Prior to his 14 year consulting career, Mr. Gersten developed network storage devices at Emerald Systems as Director of Systems Engineering. Before that he held the I/O Group manager post at NCR in Rancho Bernardo, developing numerous high performance transaction processing products. Mr. Gersten represented NCR and Emerald in several ANSI standard committees developing data communication protocols. He holds BSEE from Israel and MBA from the USA.

David Hedley -- Staff Applications Engineer, Renesas Technology America
 For the past 10 years, David Hedley has worked for major semiconductor manufacturers, focusing almost entirely on microcontroller applications. He has received president's awards for innovation, published several application notes on various topics, and has been awarded a patent for communications systems software. Mr. Hedley has a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering from Leeds in the UK, where he graduated with honors.

Mark Rootz -- Product/Segment Marketing Manager, Renesas Technology America
 Mark Rootz, currently marketing manager for H8S and H8SX MCU product lines, has 24 years experience with embedded control systems, 17 of those years designing real-time hardware and software using MCUs and programmable logic, and the remaining years in marketing responsible for definition and marketing of MCU product families. Mark is focused on system solutions, including the TFT-LCD solution for H8S and H8SX. He holds an MSEE from the University of Missouri at Rolla, and has previously worked at STMicroelectronics, Waferscale, and McDonnell Aircraft (now Boeing).
Shane Titus -- Head of Microcontroller Systems, Segger Microcontroller GmhH & Co. KG.
 Shane Titus has several years of programming experience for embedded applications. For the past three and a half years he has headed up the U.S. office of SEGGER Microcontroller Systems.
Ken Maxwell -- General Manager, Swell Software
 Ken Maxwell has been writing embedded systems software for 20 years. In 1997 Mr. Maxwell founded Swell Software, a maker of graphical user interface software for embedded systems, where he continuous to serve as chief software architect. Prior to that, he worked in real-time embedded software at various robotics and industrial control companies. Ken has published several technical articles on user interface hardware and software design and was twice awarded patents in the area of graphical interface for GPS navigation systems.

Kevin King -- Application Engineering, Renesas Technology America
 Senior Staff Applications Engineer, Renesas Technology America, has over 30 years experience in embedded applications development, particularly in hardware and software design, system integration and performance testing. He received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Lowell, Massachusetts, in 1987. In the past few years, he has been working in the field of motor drives, power electronics, and control applications.
Robert Proctor -- Senior Application Engineer, Renesas Technology America
 Bob Proctor has more than 20 years experience in motor control design, focusing primarily on brushless DC motor control techniques using analog and digital technology. Mr. Proctor's areas of expertise include safety and EMC compliance testing
Dr Huangsheng Xu Applications Engineer, Renesas Technology America
 Huangsheng Xu received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, in 2001. In the past fifteen years, he has been working on motor drives, especially sensorless vector control of PMSM motors and induction motors. Huangsheng Xu has had three U.S. patents, and has been published in over twenty papers in the IEEE journals and conference proceedings. The paper of "sensorless vector control of three-phase induction motors" won the third award at IEEE-IAS 2006. Currently, Huangsheng Xu is working at Renesas Technology America for motor control applications.
Dr Yashvant Jani -- Director of Applications Engineering, Renesas Technology America
 Yashvant Jani has more than 15 years experience in embedded systems. For the last four years he has focused on advanced motor control applications, including developing and testing vector control for brushless DC motors. A regular presenter at Embedded Systems Conference, Dr. Jani has taught seminars on networking, VoIP and brushless DC motors. Prior to joining Renesas, Dr. Jani developed integrated guidance, navigation and control systems for the space shuttle. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1976.
Kim Rowe -- Founder, RoweBots
 Kim brings over 30 years of experience in business management and systems engineering to the company and holds both an MBA and an MEng. He has been instrumental in the startup of several companies and several business units in the computer systems and services areas. Kim has extensive international experience, having taken a broad set of software and hardware products to market in over 20 countries. Kim has routinely been a strong technical leader in real-time and embedded systems, software engineering and signal processing. He has published approximately 35 papers and articles in various journals and magazines and has a collection of industry firsts to his credit.

Sami Nassar -- Senior Director Strategic Marketing, Renesas Technology America, Inc.
 Sami Nassar is responsible for the Strategic Marketing and secure MCU activity in Renesas Technology America. With more than 15 years experience in the high-tech industry, where he held numerous executive positions, Mr. Nassar brings deep domain knowledge and a broad insight into digital security, telecommunications and semiconductors to his current role. Previous to joining Hitachi Semiconductor in 2001, Mr. Nassar was managing director of Schlumberger’s telecom smart cards and systems division in North America.
He holds a master of science in electrical engineering from Ecole Superieure des Ingenieurs ESIB and a master in computer science from Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité SUPELEC in France.

Mark Schaeffer -- CEO, GraniteKey
 Mark Schaeffer has over 20 years of product development, product marketing, financial analysis, and engineering experience in the security, semiconductors, networking, enterprise software, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. His guiding philosophy is that a good solution must start with a very deep understanding of business case and requirements before addressing technical solutions. Mark has held positions at IBM, Deloitte Touche, Mercer Management Consulting, and several VC backed start up ventures. Mark was also the 8th employee of Cingular/AT&T, having launched that cellular network. Mark received his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and also holds a BS in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering. Mark is the founder and CEO of GraniteKey. GraniteKey provides products and services for implementing security across a wide range of industries including anti-counterfeiting of products, IP protection, data protection, identity protection, logistic and supply chain security, and government/DOD applications. GraniteKey’s products include security modules for integration with customers’ products, a secure provisioning product, and a collaborative online threat modeling tool. GraniteKey’s philosophy is that ROI based threat modeling is a necessary first step to establish the business case and objectives for security implementations, which in turn leads to an effective design.
C.A. Hinton -- Developer, Zeltiq Aesthetics, Inc.
C.A. Hinton is a medical device developer living in the San Francisco bay area. He has 25+ years experience designing and implementing desktop and embedded software and systems for medical devices. He has worked on projects ranging from ultrafast CT scanners to hand-held oximeters. His current interests include product security and the organizational challenges around high quality rapid development.
Yong Qiao -- Director of Engineering, Identity & Access Assurance Group, RSA
Dr. Yong Qiao is Director of Engineering, Identity & Access Assurance Group at RSA, The Security Division of EMC. In this role, he is responsible for engineering management and product development of RSA’s industry-leading SecurID hardware and software strong authentication products. He joined EMC following EMC’s acquisition of RSA Security Inc., where he was Director of Engineering in the Enterprise Security Business Unit. Previously, he held senior engineering development and management positions at Sycamore Networks, Holoplex, and ILC Technology. Dr. Qiao received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, both in Electrical Engineering, from California Institute of Technology. He graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, with both B.S. in Electrical Engineering and B.S. in Computer Science. He holds seven US patents and has published over forty technical papers.

 Brian Davis, director of marketing, is focused on developing Renesas' system solution business in North America. With more than 23 years experience in sales, marketing and business development of semiconductor and system-level technologies, Mr. Davis brings deep expertise and broad insight to this role. His experience includes developments in graphics, multimedia, networking, wireless systems, PCs, embedded systems, operating systems, middleware and application technologies. Previous to Renesas, he served in executive sales and marketing roles at HP, Oak Technology, Chips & Technologies, Brooktree Corporation, and MediaQ Technologies.
Suyog Deshpande Senior Field Applications Engineer, Trinity Convergence
Suyog Deshpande is working as a Senior Field Applications Engineer with Trinity Convergence since October 2004. Prior to joining Trinity, he has worked as a Sr. DSP Engineer at HelloSoft in USA and as a Project Officer at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Jim Kosmach -- Director of the Multimedia Algorithms and Codecs, Packet Video
As the Director of the Multimedia Algorithms and Codecs team, my primary interests have been in the implementation and optimization of audio and video codecs for embedded devices as well as the integration of 3rd party SW and HW accelerated codecs into PacketVideo's multimedia framework. One of our most recent projects has been to provide the multimedia software for the Android platform being offered by the Open Handset Alliance.

Richard Nass -- Publisher, Embedded Systems Programming, TechInsights
 Rich's key responsibilities include setting the editorial direction for Embedded Systems Design magazine, the Embedded.com Web site, the global Embedded Systems Conferences, the RFID World Web site and conference, and all custom events. Rich also handles the editorial for Embedded Systems Design Europe. He's been in the Electronics OEM industry for over 20 years. Before taking on the top editorial role for the Embedded and RFID franchises, Rich oversaw the TechOnline DesignLine network of design engineering Web sites. Prior to that, he spent six years as the Editor-in-Chief of Portable Design magazine, where he drove the editorial to new heights while launching a magazine and technical conference in China. Preceding that, Rich was a Technology Editor with Electronic Design magazine. He holds a BSEE degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Yasushi Akao -- Board Director & Executive General Manager, MCU Business Group, Renesas Technology Corp.
 Yasushi Akao is a board director and executive general manager for the MCU business group, managing the group’s engineering, sales and marketing operations worldwide. Mr. Akao has approximately 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry with extensive background in design and development of microcontrollers and microprocessors. He joined Hitachi, Ltd. in 1979 and held a number of senior positions in engineering, marketing and management at Hitachi and Renesas Technology.
He has a master of science in electrical engineering from Keio University in Japan and a master of engineering in electrical engineering from Cornell University.
